About this Cook
Wife of 19 years and mother of 3 great kids (hubby is pretty great, too)!
My favorite things to cook
I LOVE to bake most of all. Cooking is more fun when I have the time-usually dinner is quick and easy meals.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Family gatherings have always centered around a great meal. Biggest tradition is the baking of Christmas cookies to give and eat!!
My cooking triumphs
I just love it when a meal comes together and tastes great. Even after cooking for 19 years that doesn't always happen. It's all about the LOVE you put into it!
My cooking tragedies
We were having some good friends over for dessert and I decided to try something new-Earthquake Cake. It was supposed to be gooey and chocolately and make it's own fudgy sauce. Instead it tasted like raw/uncooked batter (and not the good kind). We ended up scraping our plates into the trash-thank goodness they were good friends!!

Smothered Pork Chops
This recipe was not to bad. The gravy was not as flavorful as I would have liked. I added a beef bouillon cube after thickening. The browning sauce-I could only find something called "seasoning sauce"-was dark in color but didn't darken the gravy much at all. Just ok-probably won't try again.

Alfredo Sauce
First time making alfredo sauce and this was a good receipe. I didn't have cream so I melted the butter and added a couple of tablespoons of flour to make a rue. Then added milk instead of cream-a little garlic powder and lots of pepper. So much better than the stuff in the jar at the store!!

Impossible Coconut Pie II
I was craving coconut pie and had all the ingredients but did want to go through the time of making the crust. This hit the spot! I also made some suggested changes using more coconut and sprinkling some on top before baking, using 3 eggs instead of 4 and using coconut extract instead of vanilla. I also used butter instead of margarine. It was scrumptious warm while the top was crunchy and toasty!
