Quick Italian Vegetable Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 14, 2009
I guess I expected too much based on the reviews. I found this recipe extremely bland even though I doubled the seasoning. Even the parmesan did not help the flavor. Sorry, I just did not enjoy this soup.

The Best Banana Bread

Reviewed: Nov. 10, 2009
I took other reviewer's advice and used 1/2 cup white sugar and 1/2 cup brown sugar. Also used 1 cup flour and 1 cup oats. Used 3 ripe bananas, 1/2 tsp vanilla and a dash of cinnamon. It turned out great. I love the texture with the oats. Definitely a keeper.

Baked Brie in Puff Pastry

Reviewed: Jul. 6, 2009
My guests loved this appetizer. I cut off ALL the rind, then sliced it in half and filled with raspberry jam and slivered almonds. I wrapped it up and popped it in the freezer while the puffed pastry thawed (about 20 mins). Last, I wrapped the cheese in the pastry, brushed with egg wash, and baked for 20 minutes. Make sure you seal the top very well or it will come open. Overall, this was delicious and I'll definitely make it again!

Super easy. You can infuse with mint or citrus. Delicious with club soda and a dash of your favorite liquor.

Maine Lobster Lasagna

Delicious and hubby liked it too. I halved the recipe and used 2 6-oz cans of crab meat bc I had that on hand. I also used no-boil noodles but they came out only so-so. Next time I'll boil my own. Very rich and something I can only eat occassionally.

Will not make this again. It was way too bland. Even my husband, who eats anything, did not like this.

Everyone loved these! My kids ate 'em up and even my father, who isn't a pancake fan, said they were delicious. Will definitely be making these again. Thanks for sharing this recipe.

Oven Roasted Red Potatoes

Reviewed: Jan. 9, 2009
I thought these were ok. They could use more more salt as well as some pepper & garlic powder for flavor. I put these on foil sprayed heavily with Pam and they did not stick at all. I turned them every 15 minutes which probably helped.

Garlic Mashed Red Potatoes

Reviewed: Jan. 9, 2009
I thought these were bland. Next time I'll add more milk & butter for a creamier texture and more salt and some pepper for flavor. Gave it 3 stars for the garlic though... that was nice.

Shoofly Pie

Reviewed: Dec. 10, 2008
This is the first shoofly pie I've ever had and it was delicious! I was in a hurry and omitted the step about brushing the crust with egg yolk. It didn't seem to make a difference. I followed steps 2 and 3. (In step 3 my topping never got real crumbly though.) I baked it for an hour bc my oven tends to run cool. After an hour, a toothpick inserted came out a little wet. But I took it out anyway and sure enough, it was perfect. The bottom had a thin layer of gooey goodness and the rest was similar to a very moist cake. I'll definitely make this again. Thanks for sharing.

Delicious! This recipe has been in my family for many generations and it's a no-fail recipe but I think the key is to use a BLENDER, not a mixer. It will turn out perfect every time.

Baked Ziti I

Reviewed: Mar. 2, 2008
I gave this 5 stars for how easy and tasty this dish is. My husband and kids loved it. It's a great alternative to spaghetti which we eat almost once a week. Now I can switch it up a little with this and pretty much use the same ingredients. And if you buy the Ragu Chunky Garden Style you'll have chunks of carrots and zucchini in your dish... a nice touch. I'll definitely make this again!

Adrienne's Cucumber Salad

Reviewed: Mar. 2, 2008
I made this without onion or dill, which I didn't have on hand. My grandmother didn't use either one so I figured it was no big deal. Anyway, it tasted great and reminded me of her. If you have not had this before it will tasted like pickled cucumbers, which is what it essentially is. Although the dill and onion will add a different flavor of course. I'll make again and add the onion and dill.
