About this Cook
I am married and we have 8 kids (4 boys & 4 girls). i love to cook and bake. i am always experimening with new recipes or trying something on my own. thank goodness there are so many mouths to eat it all huh?!!! Other than cooking and baking I enjoy quilting, reading, and spending time with my family as much as possible.
My favorite things to cook
My favorite thing to make is any kind of dessert. It seems to be my way of destressing. I am just recently gotten adventurous enough to start making breads and trying new things. I've always just stuck with what I know works, but am getting tired of the same old routine.
My favorite family cooking traditions
We don't really have very many cooking traditions other than holiday meals. Every Christmas my kids and I always bake tons of cookies and various deserts to give to family and friends.
My cooking triumphs
My first Thanksgiving dinner all by myself about 10 years ago. I had never cooked a turkey (or much of anything else for that matter) and it came out perfect. Another was when I finally mastered making my own pie crust that came out nice and flaky.
My cooking tragedies
There are so many...the first time I made mashed potatoes they came out more like potato soup, scrambled eggs that I wouldn't even feed to my dog (I can now fix them very good) and many more that I don't have enough space to list!

Delicious Ham and Potato Soup
My family and I love this soup! I made it for lunch today, and the only thing I changed was to double it. The origional amount wouldn't even have come close to feeding my family! I've never made a "cream" soup before this and was really nervous that it would taste funny or have a wierd texture, but the worry was for nothing! This has to be one of the easiest soups ever! This will definately become a regular in our house. Thanks so much for sharing!

Chocolate Spoons
I made these for gift baskets to go with hot chocolate mix. They were super simple to make! Turned out very pretty and make a great addition to my baskets! Now I have to make more for my kids!! Thanks!

Hot Cocoa Mix in a Jar
I made this today to give out as Christmas gifts. I tried a cup myself first and I loved it. I did make a few alterations though. I used 1c. powdered sugar instead of 1/2 and I used about 3/4-1 c. of cocoa powder. I ran it all through the food processor to mix and get the milk powder as fine as the rest. I turned out wonderfully! I think I will have to make some more just to keep here for the us! I will post pics as soon as I get the rest of my gift basket stuff done. Thanks for sharing a great recipe!
