I am 22 years old and I have been cooking at a fine dining Italian restuarant for the past 6 years. For me, cooking is very pleasurable although I have now realized its not what I want to do for living much longer (not enough $$ in the business and horrible hours), so I have enrolled in a Massage Therapy course in my hometown which will bring in alot more moola!!It's an intense course, aside from actual techniques and treament plans, we learn in depth anatomy and physiology of the entire human body. This is a better career for me. I still love to cook for my family. I also enjoy raising guinea pigs(hence my profile name), they are very cute and make funny noises.
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook anything Italian, Asian or anything that is healthy. I am looking to get into some Indian cooking....gotta love that spice! I enjoy making lower fat and calorie dessert once in a while, this Easter I am going to attempt to make lower fat lemon cheesecake for the first time. I try to stay away from packaged mixes and such but once in a while I find they help make an easy meal when needed
My cooking triumphs
Best sauce for chicken: Sautee sliced mushrooms and onion, deglaze with red wine, add a bay leaf and simmer for a few minutes, sprinkle 2-3 tbsp of Bisto chicken gravy mix and stir in immediatly for a smooth a velvety red wine sauce.
Pretty much anything I make is a triumph lol
My cooking tragedies
I attempted to make lemon meringue pie from scratch for my boyfriends birthday one year (lemon meringue is his fav). The final product came out absolutly wonderful after I pulled it out of the oven from browning the meringue but I didn't think to put the cooled down pie into the fridge to firm it up and it turned out more like lemon pudding after all that work! Oh well, still taste great.
