About this Cook
I am a single mom of twin girls, who can sometimes be picky. For most of their lives, we have lived with or stayed with friends or family, but two years ago we finally got our own place!! Since then, I have really been spreading my wings as far as cooking----I have even recently been brave enough to try baking. I have found Allrecipes tremendously helpful as I re-learn how to cook. Especially helpful is the option of adapting the serving size, as I am usually cooking for 3, an odd number. I am gaining confidence, and really enjoying myself!
My favorite things to cook
Dinner. I also like to grill, a skill I discovered I have just a few years ago.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I am trying to create my own, but I like to remember the methods my mother used when baking especially.
My cooking triumphs
These occur almost daily, as I try new things. When my teins both give a "thums-up", it's a keeper!!
My cooking tragedies
I still cannot make southern gravy to go with my chicken fried steak!

Easy Sugar Cookies
Was informed by my daughter that she needed something for a bake sale at school, at about 7 pm the night before!!!! These were easy to make, and came out beautifully!! I dipped each ball into decorating sugar to make them "prettier". Big hit, and the cookies helped to raise for victims of the tsunami. Tasty!!

Oatmeal Raisin Cookies IV
I just made these to put in the vintage cookie jar my sweetie gave me last week. He sat with a glass of milk and ate 6 in just minutes!!! I took the advice of someone who held the third egg out and added it later---I think that was a big help. This is most definitely a keeper!!! Will make it again and again and again!!!
