Great basic salad! I added a hand full of raisins. The almonds were a nice texture. Thanks!

Easiest Egg Nog

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2009
Soooo good. Not as thick as ones with cream obviously, but I'm lactose intolerant so this is amazing! I used soy milk and replaced the vanilla extract with rum extract. So good, even my sister liked it! It is very frothy but I still love it. I can hardly ever find soy nog and it's usually digusting. Now I never have to! Thanks!

Cabbage Patch Stew

Reviewed: Sep. 26, 2009
I didn't have ranch style beans, green pepper or celery, so I used white kidney beans and yellow pepper. The only thing is that it was quite spicy, I'm not sure if the picante I used was different but a 1/4 seems like a lot. I still liked it but my dad couldn't eat it.

Country Seed Bread

Good! I used the dough setting and made buns to go with cabbage patch stew. Loved all the seeds! I wasn't sure about the poppyseeds but I liked it!

Watermelon Salsa

Reviewed: Jun. 30, 2009
Okay this was really good. Had extra watermelon from a BBQ, so I used up the slices. (I still have 2 whole melons left though!) I didn't have the peppers so I chopped green pepper, green onion and add cayenne pepper and a tsp of lemon juice. Delicious! I didn't even want to eat it with anything, it was so good by itself!

Cod Curry

Reviewed: Jun. 10, 2009
Very good! My mom loved it and she hates fish. (but she loves cilantro) Not a very strong curry flavour, but I didn't have tumeric or jalapenos so I chopped a green pepper and added a couple dashes of hot sauce.

Balsamic-Glazed Salmon Fillets

Fantastic! I didn't have white wine and substituted sugar and dry mustard for the dijon. I didn't marinate it at all and it was delicious.

Chewy Coconut Cookies

Reviewed: Apr. 29, 2009
Great recipe! The dough was quite crumbly but they turned out great I just pinched them together. I wasn't sure if they were done at 8 minutes but I found even though they were very soft still in the middle they stiffened up and were very chewy. They only need to be lightly browned. If you like coconut you will like these cookies!!!

Pan-Fried Asparagus

It was good, not headline making but pretty tasty. Next time I'd like to try something a little different with asparagus, but fried in garlic was nice.

Pretty good, I used turkey bacon and it was still good but probably less flavour without the bacon fat.

Hot Cross Buns I

Reviewed: Apr. 10, 2009
My family LOVED these buns. I made them for Good Friday. I used whole wheat flour and skipped the powdered milk because I didn't have any. They were really sweet and delicious, although more like cinnamin buns almost. I had to add more sugar to the icing because it was too thin, I don't know if it made a difference that it was organic. Overall, I highly recommend these!!!

Cocoa Oatmeal Cookies

Reviewed: Mar. 31, 2009
Good cookie, similar to no bake cookies. They get harder once they cool so take them out earlier if you like them soft. Mine had a funny after taste but I'm sure it was just because the oats were stale. Will probably make again! (with frest oats) : P

So these cookies are pretty much amazing. I looked all over for this recipe because I didn't know what they were called. And I've been informed that these are also known as "better than sex" cookies. Lol.

Peanutty Chocolate Fudge

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2008
I must've have done something differently on this recipe. As far as I can see I followed the directions exactly, and they aren't very difficult. I stirred it constantly for 5 minutes and then removed it from the heat to stir in the marshmellows and chocolate and peanut butter. The marshmellows melted, however it became extremely dry and crumbly. I added some more evaporated milk but it was still very difficult to spread into the pan. I hope it is still okay once it cools.

Coconut Macaroons German Style

Reviewed: Dec. 24, 2008
Amazing! I'm on a very restricted diet and these were to die for! Although I have to agree with the other reviewers, it was much better baked at 350F for less time. (I did about 12 minutes) I tried both ways, and the first time at 250F they were mainly just meringe and crisp and totally white. At 350F they were slightly chewy inside and lightly browned and crisp on the outside. I did bake them on convection the second time. Overall amazing recipe!!!!

Saltine Toffee Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 23, 2008
Great! I have an extra large cookie sheet so I doubled the recipe. It didn't quite reach the egdes with the toffee so that was my only complaint. Other than that it was good! I stuck it in the snow for half an hour and then cut it into pieces. : )

Molasses Cookies

Great molasses flavor, chewy on the inside, slightly crisp on the edges. Stuck dough outside for ten minutes in -30C weather, cookies were easy to roll into balls. Made a triple batch --> 300 cookies!
