About this Cook
I am a teacher with a doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction. I love learning and teaching. My family is very important to me. My children are my one greatest accomplishment in life. I am so very glad that I stayed home and raised them until they were in school. They make me so proud!
My favorite things to cook
Mexican is my favorite thing to eat so I work on that. It is easy to cook and ingredients are readily available.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Christmas "Jesus Cake"; Black Forest Cherry Cake for birthdays; and trying new things. I especially feel proud when a friend or family member is served something and they say "I have never had this before" and they like it!
My cooking triumphs
I started cooking at 8 years old. I entered a Black Forest Cherry Cake in a 4H contest and the judge couldn't believe a 12 year old could make something that good and so didn't give me the blue ribbon. Cream Brule' (I don't like custard but my family loves it!)
My cooking tragedies
Starting a fire in my friend's kitchen at our annual Christmas dinner. It was all grandma's fault - she used to warm the buns in a paper bag in the oven. Maybe her oven wasn't quite so hot!?

Flourless Chocolate Cake I
Fabulous dessert! Very rich and special, only a small slice will do for a satisfying treat. Whipped cream was my topping of choice. I would suggest to half the salt if you use salted butter. Berries would be lovely but not necessary. I did not cool overnight, I made it in the morning and put in the fridge asap and served for dinner. It was unbelievable! Do take it out of the oven at the suggested time, and ignore if it doesn't look done. Mine looked wet over the whole top, but it was done when it was cooled. My family raved over it, and agreed that it would be a treat whether gluten free diet or not! Thanks for the awesome recipe!
