I really love to try new desserts and treats, tend to stick to basics with cooking. I just don't seem to find many recipes that are great enough to be added to the regular line up. We eat about as much venison as most people eat chicken. I am a stay at home mom, four kids and a wonderful husband of ten years. He brings home the "bacon" and I'm in charge of frying it. Mmmm, bacon. The only reason I look forward to winter is the baking. In the summer, not quite as much. Love to be outdoors, gardening, swimming (more laying on beach than swimming) just being out in the sun.
My favorite things to cook
Dessert. Definetly dessert. I would like to improve on my bread making skills. But cakes, pies, cookies. Yummo. Not much for shopping in the area, nearest large grocerie store is over a half hour away, so I don't get to brave with meals. Seems the kids are getting pickier as they get older to, whats with that?
My favorite family cooking traditions
Canning. Growing up we had a huge garden and my mom canned. Now we have a small garden and still love to can things. I remember my mom baking bread, I will conquer that soon. I know its not that hard, blahblahblah. My mom was a single mom working a lousy job, so our food was kinda lame. There were always cookies or some kind of treats for after school. She made everything from scratch. Didn't have much for tradition I guess.
My cooking triumphs
Baked all the goodies once for a baby shower and everyone wanted all the recipes, everything turned out perfect. People wanted to hire me for weddings! No way, to stressful!! My pizza crust finally turns out faithfully, every time! Getting better with the yeast factor!
My cooking tragedies
Other than the stew last night? Hmmm, scorched pineapple salsa that tasted like cigarette butts, my brother loved it though (hes a smoker!!LOL) Seem to almost always forget the last batch of cookies in the oven, I have repressed the others.
