About this Cook
My awesome husband goes to work all day so I can go to school and get my degree - My quest is for the best dinner recipes to thank him every night (well, except those nights before an exam).
My favorite things to cook
I love whole wheat pasta and all kinds of veggies! The best feeling is making something amazing that happens to be healthy, too. Healthy doesn't mean tasteless!
My favorite family cooking traditions
It seems to have been less about the food, and more about the family together. The delicious food just added to the warmth.
My cooking triumphs
Thanksgiving 2008. Just got out of the military and had the first opportunity to host dinner in our home. I went nuts on this website making mashed potatoes with feta, cranberry chutney, sweet potatoes, apple pie... There were looks of surprise each time a guest took a bite! My mom was most impressed of all, realizing I had graduated from scrambled eggs and mac&cheese.
My cooking tragedies
We were looking to buy a house and the inspector explained that he couldn't check the smoke alarm. My husband shrugged and replied, "No big deal, Kristi's going to be cooking here soon. She'll find out if it works." Sure enough - ONE WEEK later, I battled a prepackaged side dish. Milk, apparently, can catch on fire. The smoke alarm worked.

Herbed Potato Soup
Amazing! An easy recipe that can't really be messed up. As a scatter brained new mom, I tend to forget ingredients, or get started thinking I have everything. I added some chopped ham leftover from Easter. My husband really loved this one! And the leftovers just keep getting better.

Robbi's M&M Cookies
I saw that others had successfully used butter - it's all I had so I went for it. They ended up pretty spread out and flat. The next batch I added an extra half a cup of flour to compensate - perfect! One day I'll have shortening and make these right.

Easy Broccoli Quiche
Wow, used the advice to press cheese into the crust to create an moisture barrier and save the bottom crust. This was my first successful quiche! Love it!
