My first pie!
About this Cook
I'm a country girl that didn't stay in the country. Living so far away from my family prompted me to start cooking my family favorites on my own and those few recipes turned into a favorite hobby of mine. I now love cooking to the extent that I make most foods from scratch (breads, sauces). My husband and I are food junkies, we love everything and we continue to experiment with new recipes all the time.
My favorite things to cook
I enjoy cooking comfort foods and soups. I absolutely love hearty soups and stews in the colder months.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Mac-n-Cheese, corned beef and cabbage, corn chowder, fresh fruit pies, potato salad

Stuffed Peppers My Way
I love this recipe. Although I have followed the recipe to a "T" I have also used canned diced tomatoes in the place of fresh tomatoes and brown rice. Additionally I like to add 3 cloves of chopped garlic to the onions. I think the use of canned tomatoes with all the juice and the chopped garlic gives the end product a more moist and desirable taste. Very delicious and very filling!

Marinated Tuna Steak
I really liked this recipe, the marinade was awesome. I followed the directions to a T and my husband was really impressed. The only thing I will do different next time is allow it to sit in the refrigerator for more than 30 minutes. I would have like the favor to be more pronounced because it was so good!

Strawberry Oatmeal Breakfast Smoothie
I loved this smoothie. I really never thought to make a smoothie with oatmeal, but it's a really nice, filling addition. Also as I'm not a sweets person I left out the sugar and substituted the vanilla extract for almond extract. Completely delicious. It was basically room temperature when I tried it so I refrigerated the other half before drinking. Great recipe!
