I enjoy watching the Food Network and experimenting with new recipes. I spend a lot of time involved at my church and with friends. I have lived in China and Taiwan and traveled around, so I enjoy anything cultural.
My favorite things to cook
Desserts are definitely a favorite. I like making cookies and cakes and anything with chocolate! After living in Asia, a lot of my food has an Asian flair.
My favorite family cooking traditions
We're originally from the South so green beans with bacon, cornbread, and vegetables cooked in butter with sugar are staples. Living near Seattle allows for our Summer Seafood Fest with fresh crab legs, scallops and shrimp.
My cooking triumphs
Making perfectly golden brown snickerdoodle cookies. My cooking triumphs are the recipes that family and friends enjoy and eat up quickly!
My cooking tragedies
The first time I made roast beef in the oven, I had no idea that it needed to be in an oven bag to retain the juices. I put the roast in a pan and popped it in the oven. So easy, right?! It came out hard as a rock and needed to be smothered in gravy! Oh well....
