  we went to see her trach doctor today. her trach was removed, but the best news is he does not think another surgery to remove scar tissue is necessary. he inserted a camera and checked her throart thru her trach hole first, then went down a nostril. he was very gentle with her. absolutely the best news i've received since she survived the first 48 hours after her 2nd surgery on the 9th of june. happy dance! i cried and tater and i high-fived, we are looking forward to surgery to re-attach her skull flap...she is self-consicious about her helmet. my hair is finally getting chopped tomorrow. i gotta get me a helmet too. terrific day for us! i hope you had a terrific and productive day as well!

I'm a "lurker" on AR, but always on a look out from you.Just now found the BLOGS and here you are!I'm in the health care profession and have seen your situation many times and have tried to follow you and your family through your difficult time.Obviously I've just got bits and pieces, but... so happy to hear the latest news! My hopes are for Claire to continue to improve and the rest of you to be strong through her recovery period.Family, and the strength and love they provide, are evrything!!! Hang in there and may God give you and your family the strength to keep her motivated and growing ( without exhausting yourselves!). I love the picture of the two of you!

Fantastic, Gary! Good things are cetainly happening these days and I'm sure Claire will be feeling even better when she gets the trach out and her hair back! About Me 
i enjoy cooking. the wife considers it a chore. i hate yard work. she loves it. we mesh. i love bass fishing, reading, music, baseball, college football and my family.

My favorite family cooking traditions
holidays are a big deal! christmas is my time to shine. i try to add a new recipe each year, but the family demands pretty much the same menu. kinda frustrating!
My cooking triumphs
i cared for my mother in law about 3 months when she had shattered her shoulder. i didn't work, so money was tight. we survived on only wife's paycheck during that time. ma-n-law had diet restrictions. it was difficult to make cheap, nutritious meals everyone would eat. we prospered as a family and learned alot about each other's strenghths and weaknesses.
My cooking tragedies
a stove top fire. i explained that one already. the grill falling over was another one...oops grill season is here! i love the tragedies...those are the ones that i'll always remember!
