About this Cook
Six kids, two dogs, three horses, lots of cats, several chickens... working on a goat. Tons of fun. Lots of laundry. Not much time. Even less money. No sleep at all.
My favorite things to cook
Any recipe you can make on the cheap, in a hurry, that all the kids will enjoy and is a breeze to clean up after. Well, I can dream, can't I?
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mom had even more kids than I do. The only tradition I can remember is "you kids get out of the kitchen" It's a tradition I keep every night.
My cooking triumphs
Hey, just getting all the groceries to fit in the kitchen is a triumph. But I'm proud to say that my daughter has caught the cooking bug and is a good buddy in the kitchen.
My cooking tragedies
Set the oven on fire three years in a row on thanksgiving. Or wait- does that go under the triumphs column?

Southern Style Fried Okra
Tasty spin on an old favorite. The onions really give a lovely sweetness. I, too, used a mixture of flour and cornmeal, and it turned out fine. Added a bit of salt and pepper. Grew all my ingredients in my home garden...they're all really easy to do...even in containers.

Guacamole
I HATE GUACAMOLE! I loved this stuff. Onion and garlic flavors, lots of chunks and texture. A delightful blend of spices. MAde my own tortlla chips in the oven and my hubby thought he had gone to heaven. I'm a convert now and am delighted to be able to eat avacados - they're so healthy for you!

Pork Chops and Kraut
My kids called it Superkraut!! Very much milder in flavor than plain sauerkraut, and a lot creamier. Made a fantastic and tasty topper for brats too! Cooked it just the same as the chops and called it lunch.
