I like creating, so, I approach most things with my artistic attributes, even when it comes to cooking. I try to work on "presentation." After trying an new recipe from allrecipes,I impatiently ask my husband "How many stars?" He is SO annoyed but hey, he goes back for seconds every time! ***smirk***
My favorite things to cook
I am inspired by whimsical and playful ideas which includes baking fun treats for my family, like a Candyland themed cake. I also enjoy making brownies, cupcakes, and decorating cakes.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Picnics under the big tree on a lazy fall day and campfire nights in our yard.
My cooking triumphs
I recreated at home a favorite dish from a local mexican restaurant. My sweet husband and dear friend complimented on how fabulous it was, if not better.
My cooking tragedies
I am terrible, just terrible! at cooking asian inspired food! (Well I was! Allrecipes has definitely changed that!)

Stabilized Whipped Cream Icing
DOUBLE YOUR RECIPE :) This recipe as is will make maybe?? 2 cups and I prefer more due to many "testers" in the kitchen. I used 3 Tbsp confectioners sugar and its just right. If you want the outcome of a very sweet icing, then you should add more. Why not? I stirred the gelatin at 30 second intervals for 2 minutes and I think it worked great.

Puff Pastry
AMAZING!!! Three ingredients!! I saw the layers in my crust/tomato tart. After I chilled the dough for about 5 hours, I rolled it out into a rectangle, folded into 3rds , gave it a clockwise turn, and repeated a few times, always turning clockwise. Thank you!

Southern Shortcake
My shortcake came out heavy and dense but still it tasted just ok. I wanted to add some baking soda/powder for a bit of fluff but did not even though regular buscuits have those ingredients. I did add sugar to the dough. Not quite what I desired but not bad either.
