I am the mother of three and we live on a small hobby farm with our two horses and three cats. I come from a long line of fabulous cooks and I love to cook and there is no food I have tried, yet, that I don't like. My problem is that I don't get to cook what I really want to cook because my husband never grew up eating the cooking that I grew up eating so he likes fairly bland and boring food. He has gotten better over the years but I still don't get to cook the things I would like to cook.
My favorite things to cook
I love making things up which sometimes scares my husband:) I love to cook pasta dishes, stirfrys, fish, gazpacho(not cooked of course), Newfoundland style pea soup, beef stew, and apple pie made from scratch. I also like to bake treats for the kids.
My favorite family cooking traditions
In Newfoundland every Sunday dinner is a big meal with many dishes and dessert. I enjoyed this day and would love to help my mother prepare the meal.
My cooking triumphs
I make deadly beef stew, pea soup, apple pie, and gazpacho. I also make elaborate cakes for special occasions like my kids' birthdays and this year I made an elaborate, huge pirate ship cake for my son. The cake was a big hit and a lot of fun to make.
My cooking tragedies
I can't seem to make a good shortbread cookie. I did better this Christmas than last Christmas but I have still tasted much better than mine.
