About this Cook
I'm just a oddly tall full Japanese girl who was born in America. I love food and my family loves food. It's the one subject that my cousins and I can always joke about when we're talking about our families. We have a passion for cooking all different types of things. My great aunt was even the family cook for Ansel Adams! So yeah, food is a family trademark.
My favorite things to cook
I love cooking Asian dishes and Italian dishes. I haven't quite gotten the hang of bread, especially since I'm too stingy to buy a bread machine. I love making food from scratch because I seem to feel better about myself and proud that I didn't use boxed things.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mom's specialty was frying stuff. Fried shrimp, friend beef steak, fried chicken, Japanese fried potato croquette. There was always a signature dish in my family that each of the women made. When my great aunt died I became the keeper of her rainbow jell-o recipe. Which is delicious!
My cooking triumphs
Definitely the rainbow jell-o. Also some recipes where I winged it or added some spices hoping it would taste good. I was very proud of the chocolate cake I made for my boyfriend's birthday too.

Cream Filled Cupcakes
I followed the recipe exactly except I substituted the flour for cake flour. Turned out a bit more dense which was nice. My boyfriend was happy that it wasn't overpoweringly chocolaty as well. The tops did come out as little peaks rather than a rounded mound so I'm not sure if that was the cake flour or something else. I topped them with a mint buttercream frosting I found on this site (If you use it I suggest only 1/2 a tsp of peppermint extract)

Garlic Cheddar Chicken
Very yummy. My boyfriend gave me many compliments on this. I also enjoyed it, especially the cheese since I love cheese. Only problem was the crust came out a bit soggy, so I think I shall try broiling each side for a few minutes when it's done cooking.

Ultimate Twice Baked Potatoes
These are delicious! Another thing I do is make mashed potatoes with these ingredients. It comes out really good as well.
