I'm a full time student at San Francisco State University, studying Art History,Art Studio and French. I love the arts, painting/ drawing, going to museums, reading and FOOD. I LOVE FOOD!!! My father was always such a good cook and I wanted to replicate and to learn. That's exactly what I've been doing since. When using a recipe, I've learned that sometimes you need to add what your taste buds desire...and usually it comes out beautifully. The best advice my father gave to me for cooking was to, "Always experiment with cooking, because you may end up with something amazing...just don't forget to write it all down." Experimenting is what I am consistently doing and it's been working for me ever since.
My favorite things to cook
I love to try and cook anything!
My favorite family cooking traditions
The only traditions are for Thanksgiving and Christmas. My brother usually cooks the Turkey (Awesomeness by the way) and I cook everything else....Oh yea, and he makes the best desserts! Other than that, that's usually when we get together to cook food really.
***added October 17, 2009*** My new tradition has been to visit my father at least once a month and cook something for him; just to get opinion of what I've made. I can take criticism and if anything, I respect hearing what he has to say more than anyone else...especially when it's about food.
My cooking triumphs
Indian curry grilled chicken, South Western Buffalo Chili (I made it up on my own),Mustard pork chops, Eggplant Creole (vegetarian and/or meat dish),Italian baked chicken with grilled veggies, Ham hocks and bean stew, Turkey meatloaf, Scones of all types, Irish Chicken Stew...any meat that can be baked, I'm pretty good at and I'm getting good learning how to grill.
My cooking tragedies
I think the worst thing ever for me was baking simple cornbread...It was so dry...I haven't made since. I love to eat it, it's just not something I've gotten good at yet.
