I have used this site for 2 years now and felt guilty reading reviews and not leaving any of my own. I am a cook by force and necessity, not nature. I have been married for 12 years and we were blessed with 2 daughters. I am a utilities contractor and my husband is a farmer. I don't have much free time, but you can't have a family and not cook! I am finally enjoying it a bit, probably because of so much information available. I can't stand spending a fortune in time and money, just to have a recipe flop. I am impatient, but I enjoy creating so much, I can't resist trying, especially with advice and help. I do pledge to be honest in reviews and only review when I have followed the recipe. You can't complain if you only had one ingredient out of the five on the list! I also understand there are many levels and catagories of cooking expertise. I can pipe decorate a cake expertly but my bread baking is dreadful. So maybe we can help each other...
My favorite things to cook
Desserts (I'm a sugar freak), Christmas dishes, Simple quick meals, Pies, Enchiladas. I use only real butter and cane sugar and my rear end pays the price.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Every Christmas I make decorated sugar cookies with the girls. We then wrap them up and cookie monster (leave them on doorsteps, ring the bell and run) in our neighborhood. I used to do this with my family growing up. The quality of cookie is getting better by the year. It also helps that the three-year-old isn't trying to put odd ingredients into the bowl now that she's older!
My cooking triumphs
I have decorated wedding cakes. That is daunting at times. I also consider it a success when I pull off a large holiday dinner for my in-law family. (No woman will ever cook as good as my mother-in-law, according to my husband, Ha.)((She really is a wonderful cook.))
My cooking tragedies
Too many to mention. Who wants to open their underwear drawer like that?
