Well we have been operating as bakery and selling at our city's premier Art and Farmers market for about 2 months now.Of the 8 weeks we have been there we have sold out twice, had 2 bad weeks where we didnt sell half of what we made and the other 4 we sold about 70-80% of our goods. I am learning alot about what it means to work hard, I mean really hard. Typically for just the bakery I am working Wednesday and Thursday nights from 5pm - 10:30pm, all day Friday (6 am  till as late as 2 am Saturday morning).....this is on top of working a full time job Monday - Thursday 7 am - 4pm ( and after hours as needed and on call Friday). On top of the bakery my youngest daughter started kindergarden and my oldest daughter got engaged and planning a wedding. I dont think there are any more hours in the day to be used. I do have to say though with even as much hard work as I am putting in, I am loving every minute of having a bakery and getting to try my hand at succeeding at my dream. We are starting to go into the fall season here and the hope is the market will get busier and we will too......

I bake for farmer's markets as well. It's a lot of work isn't it. I also raise a family and work from Monday to Friday. My worst days as well are Thursday and Fridays...although my hours go from 5 am to about somewhere between 12:30 and 1:30 both nights. By Saturday and Sunday I am...snore. (Or at least I with I am!) Keep up the good work...it can be very lucrative, especially if you work on the quality. I think people don't like to part with money unless it is going to be worth their while. Happy baking, T

Yes it is a lot of work....I do have a lot of return customers, expecially for our Lavender Sweet Rolls and Orange Chocolate Chip Cookies. I do try to mix up the variety and keep the prices reasonable enough. Good Luck to you - T.Mashem- as well!!

Good for YOU! I hope that all the hard work will pay off, but deep down I know it will. You are obviusly doing something you are passionate about. Keep it up and maybe you can quit the day job (or at least reduce the hours?) soon.

About Me
I am happily married mother of 2 girls, Lauren (18 yrs) and Nevada (4 yrs). Cooking is the past time that brings me the most enjoyment, I love baking for others.
My favorite things to cook
Any type of baking - cookies, cakes, breads - are my favorite types of cooking. Experimenting with foods and meals of different cultures, anything that I was not exposed to growing up in the southern U.S.
My favorite family cooking traditions
With my family I have tried to build new traditions around holidays and special occasions. There are things that you grow up with in the south, like cornbread stuffing at Thanksgiving, or black-eyed peas, ham and greens on New Years. I like to keep those traditions but come up with new ones that incorporate my husbands greek heritage into our family.
My cooking triumphs
The biggest 2 accomplishments I am proud of would be learning how to make the perfect Carnitas and making bread by hand and learning it all on my own by trial and error. That, and the fact I make the worlds best SPECIAL chocolate chip cookies which my co-workers hound me for every week.
My cooking tragedies
For my mothers 50th birthday I decided to make my first cake from scratch....not a good idea....it was the most disgusting tasting pile of cake flour.
