I am a stay at home Mom to a beautiful little girl. Before having my daughter I was an Elementary school teacher.
My favorite things to cook
I love making new recipes! Luckily my husband and daughter don't mind being my taste testers. I enjoy baking cookies and cakes. I host most of the hoildays for our family.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I love Christmas breakfast! My Mom has been making it since I was a baby. Now that I have a daughter my Mom wants to hand the tradition down to me, just as my Grandma passed it down to her when I was born. Christmas breakfast is one of the most special things about the hoilday season. I keep telling my Mom that I'm not quite ready to take over, because I enjoy her cooking so much. She always makes the nest quiche noel, stuffed french toast, cheesy potatoes, fruit salad and all kinds of other goodies.
My cooking triumphs
I think I have come a long way. When I was around 12 I started making dinner on Thursday every week for my Dad and little brother while my Mom had girls night with her friends. I started out with boxed mac and cheese and kilbasa. After years and years of the same thing my Mom taught me how to make other things. Gradually I learned more and more dishes. If I have a recipe I can cook or bake just about anything now.
My cooking tragedies
The one tragedey that comes to mine is chicken and dumplings. I can NEVER get the dumplings to turn out right. I have tried several times and finally have given up on this dish. Most of the time my dumplings turn into glue! Maybe someday I'll figure out the secret. For now, I'll just enjoy my Grandmas!
