I'm a young-un who has had a passion for food since an early age! I always loved baking with grandma and learning the joy of indulging in home-made noodles. I thought I'd like to be a dietician but have since learned that my true desire lies in preparing food for whoever I can, whenever I can. My husband and I have discovered the joys of couchsurfing/hosting strangers in our home and I have loved preparing meals for them to fit their food preferences. If I could do anything for the rest of my life it would be to drink tea, read books, have women and friends come into my home and prepare them delicious and "from-scratch" meals!
My favorite things to cook
Soup!!! I love soup! We live in a VERY cold small town, so soup is the ultimate in comfort. It's also the easiest thing to make for a crowd and that is something I love! I enjoy figuring out pizza crust and other bread products at 7200 feet. If I can get my hands on grandma's recipes, exotic or gourmet-type meals, I am a happy camper!
My favorite family cooking traditions
I recently discovered all of grandma's secrets and great grandma's secrets and great grandma's friends secrets - I am anxious to get into those recipes and make them into traditions. Few things beat the good ole Holiday candy making traditions!
My cooking triumphs
On Allrecipes.com you can find a recipe for the Best Beef Dips ever - They are amazing! I never rave about my own cooking, but these are delectable! I also feel I have conquered bread machine Banana Bread and Honey White Bread, cornbread and cooking with random items that find their way into our refridgerator.
My cooking tragedies
While preparing my very first Holiday meal - from Turkey to Stuffing to Margarita Pie - I completely botched the dinner rolls, the one item I had bought rather than preparing from scratch. I completely forgot that they were warming in the oven and burned the entire bottom of each and every roll.
