About this Cook
I'm a single woman who loves to cook, but loves to bake more - cookies, cakes, muffins, cupcakes - anything. I'm trying to eat healthier, which is very hard when my favourite foods are generally breaded and/or smothered in cheese. My favourite way to spend an early Saturday morning? Walking up and down the aisles of the local Farmer's Market where I've discovered a chocolatier who specializes in Single Origin dark chocolate (to die for!), and our local coffee company who blends and roasts his own coffee beans. Some of the best food I've ever tasted I get from the Farmer's Market.
My favorite things to cook
Any kind of pasta, chicken parmesan, cookies, and wedding cakes.
My favorite family cooking traditions
A few times a year my siblings, parents and I get together for a Family Freezer-Food Cookoff. Everyone chooses one dish to make for everyone else. Usually about 4 servings per person.
My cooking triumphs
The four wedding cakes that I've made for relatives and friends.
My cooking tragedies
Should I talk about the time when I was 15 and put a frozen muffin in the microwave to thaw and caught it (and the microwave) on fire? No? Should I tell you about the time I was asked to make the sugar water for my mom's hummingbird feeder and forgot about it, so the Lagostina pot melted to the stove burner along with the wisk I left in the pot? I would call those "cooking tragedies"!! Wouldn't you?

Amy's Lavender Lemonade
I made this over and over again all summer long after I had something similar at a local cafe. By far the best lemonade recipe I've ever tried. The lavendar is absolutely fantastic and the recipe is so easy to make. A must try!!

It's Chili by George!!
This is a nice chili recipe, but I have to question the 1/4 cup chili powder. I reduced the amount to about 1 1/2 tablespoons and added a can of whole plum tomatoes. Otherwise, it was very tasty.

Avocado, Tomato and Mango Salsa
I cannot count the number of times I've made this recipe. Whenever I go somewhere, or have people over - I make it. The combination of the tangy mango and cilantro flavour with the mild flavour of the avocado is absolutely delicious.
