My mother was a great versatile cook who taught me a lot without me even knowing it. She cooked things from around the world, which gave me a palate for almost anything. I made chicken catchatorie for my husband, when we first started dating. He raved about the meal, and asked "you made this, for me?" The rest as they say is history! When I started out cooking, I used a lot of prepared ingredients which always made things too salty, and not really my own. I also learned the hard way about measuring and baking. There's nothing like a chocolate chip cookie with too much baking soda in it, yuck.
