I'm 47 years old, married, mother of two. I love to cook.
My favorite things to cook
My husbands favorite dish is meatballs in red sauce, so I've become a great Italian cook over the years. I love all kinds of different food, some of my favorites are chicken enchiladas, baked stuffed shrimp, chicken marsala, eggs Benadict, and of course sweet things.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mom Mary was a really good versatile cook, she had Irish roots, so there was always a rare roast beef for Sunday dinner, a lamb stew, and a boiled dinner followed the next day with pea soup. She also cooked everything else in the world that's good. From stuffed grape leaves, Boston baked beans, borscht w/sour cream, souffles, Fondue, Mexican food, to Swedish Meatballs. She baked very well, her popovers were awesome, and she made homemade apple sauce from our apple trees. She taught me allot, and gave me a good base to grow upon.
My cooking triumphs
I made a beef wellington with a port wine sauce reduction for my husband and sister, and they said it was the best thing they ever ate. It was fantastic.
I made Lobster Thermador with a gruyere cheese sauce, on a sauteed spinach base, to honor my two aunts they were both so impressed, the dish made the dinner memorable and special.
My cooking tragedies
When I first started out cooking I used allot of prepared foods, and that's not really cooking, your just throwing bunch of prepared foods together, it was always too salty, and you can't really call it your own. I have screwed up in the baking department, if you don't measure properly, you have a problem, live and learn.
