About this Cook
Wife and mother of two. I love travel and learning about new food from other cultures and trying to make it myself. I am getting pretty good with Indian food. I live in Alaska, so I have access to fresh fish and meat that is second to none.
My favorite things to cook
On rainy days, soup and and sandwiches are a staple. I also love doing big meals for a lot of people. Thanksgiving is wonderful, because I love trying new recipes and having a wide audience who can give me feedback. Some of my favorites meals to make have been found through dinner parties.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Holidays are always fun for our family because we all get together in one kitchen and make a lot of food. Also making gingerbread houses and cookies to decorate with my husband and kids.
My cooking triumphs
I was never really comfortable with dessert, but over the years have learned more and more, and have created some fabulous tasting (and looking) desserts to be proud of.
My cooking tragedies
I cannot bring myself to cook with Tarragon. I experimented with the spice in a casserole dish, and my family loathed it. I see recipes now with tarragon and steer clear.

African Chicken Stew
This is my husband's new favorite dish. So yummy, and easy to alter the spice factor to your liking. I make this at least once a month now!

Easy Batter Fruit Cobbler
5 stars for how quick and easy this is, and 3 1/2 stars for taste. I used frozen berries and it was good.

Hobo's Delight
it took longer than stated to cook the potatoes, even diced small. was a little watery. Would be good for camping, though.
