What a fantastic recipe - we loved this. The only change I made was to reduce the oil and the soy sauce by 1/2 because it just seemed like so much marinade. It was beautiful too. Grilled over a hot grill this is absolutely fantastic. I will be making this again and again - thanks for a fabulous recipe.

Wow - this is fantastic. The only change I made and it is a totally personal preference is cut the simple syrup by 1/2. The bitters and the nutmeg take this from great to out of this world. Just by chance the OJ that I had on hand was Mango OJ and what a delightful addition, mmmmm. Thanks, this is a fantastic recipe that I have already made a few times and will become part of my repertoire.

This soup was delicious!!!!! A few slight variations I made were - using beef soup base instead of canned stock and omitting the water. Also, I added the sugar to the onions in the beginning because I find that the carmelization is richer. Instead of all white wine I used 1 part white wine and 1 part sherry. The finishing touch was a dash of worcestershire. My husband ate 3 bowls, 2 w/ cheese, 1 without! Really marvelous, thank you.
