Me
About this Cook
I am a very proud Army wife. Mother to the coolest 2yr old boy in the world and the most adorable 3 month old baby girl. I L-O-V-E to cook! Baking is my favorite and I am always looking for new recipes to try. I also like to try and reproduce the things I eat at restauraunts and parties.
My favorite things to cook
Cookies! Cheesecakes! Cupcakes! Asian,Italian and Latin foods! Comfort foods and anything grilled. (My mom's Scnitzel in mushroom cream sauce!! Thats the ultimate comfort food in our house!) I also love to make things in miniature during the holidays! lol There is pretty much always some sort of baked yummy in the house for my family to munch on.
My favorite family cooking traditions
From my hubby's side of the family: Naca Tamales with cafe de leche for breakfast. yummy Of course all the big holidays like Thanksgiving,Christmas, and New Years are big food days for our family and it's always the one time multiple generations are in the kitchen cooking together. I love it. My grandfather always makes his famous stuffing for thanksgiving, my mom makes her ambrosia, and my mother-in-law makes pull apart bread and rum cake to die for.
My cooking triumphs
I am famous in both sides of the family for my cookies, cupcakes, tres leches cake, chili, lasagna, bulgogi, stuffed pork chops, yaki mandu, spicy sweet glazed grilled salmon, and stuffed chicken marsala. And now I have em beggin for my mom's recipe for Schnitzel in cream sauce. But thats our secret since it took over 10 yrs of perfecting!
My cooking tragedies
Tried to make real tiramisu once and it was a mess, I make a tiramisu layer cake now that I love. hmm I also bombed out trying to make bread. It just doesnt work out for me unless it is banana bread.

Hot Spiced Cider
this was really good. Made it in my coffepot. only i put the sugar in the pot after it had brewed. A little vinegar water should clean up my machine easy. Definitely will keep this in my box! Thanks!

Deep Fried Jalapeno Slices
these were pretty good. I ususally make mine using tempura batter then breadcrumbs and I have found they cook up and stay crispier that way. These are awesome with homemade ranch dip!
