About this Cook
I cook 90% of the stuff in our house.
My favorite things to cook
Anything on the grill. I literally knock the ice off my grill in January to grill. I can grill at 6 in the am as my neighbors are getting ready to go to work. Otherwise I cook almost all the protein, veggies, starches etc in the house and leave the baking to the wife. Food over flame is always going to be the best.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I learned to grill from my father. We have a summer tradition of throwing a big Fourth of July bash and we both now do the cooking. 2 Propane grills and two charcaol. Not to mention the Smokers. My son's are now trying to learn (mom doesn't want a five year old grilling, thinks it's dangerous, the 2 year old just goes "cool".)
My cooking triumphs
I have been paid by friends and familty to make Hot Sauces and Smoked Jerky. I make hot sauces that bring mortal men to tears.
My cooking tragedies
I can bake Pizza but any other baking equals fire alarms...

Buttery Soft Pretzels
We make these pretzels a couple times a month. We have experimented and found 1/4 cup of sugar is plenty for us. We like to use less refined salt (sub an exotic like Pink Hawaiian etc)and we also sup butteer for oil. My boys can't wait till dip em in melted velveeta or a good dipping oil and spices. Well gotta go the timer just went off, proofing is done and time to roll the pretzels.

Eggless Pasta
Used this recipe for a project with my son. I am alergic to eggs and he knows it's hard to get fresh pasta that does not have eggs in them. Although it took a bit of time to get the hard part done we both LOVED the results. Heck my oldest son actually ate a bunch of the dough before it was cooked because he thought it was yummy. The only thing different we did was add some Extra Virgin Olive oil and a lil bit of garlic. Overall a great recipe and fun to boot.
