About this Cook
I've been using this site for almost 5 years now so I thought I'd like to become a member. All I know is this is one awesome massive site that I often consult when coming up with cooking/baking ideas!
My favorite things to cook
I like easy recipes with lots of spices. Also, I love seafood, Indian, Japanese and Korean foods. The spicier the better! I like baking cookies, muffins, breads, cakes, granola bars, cooking stews, lentils....anything that's in the cupboards and isn't too complicated to do or take forever before we can eat it!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Cod-au-Gratin is a good one, as well as blueberry cobbler. Then there's the Christmas gingerbread and shortbread and puddings too. Mmmmmm, sweet goodness!
My cooking triumphs
I'm good at making cod-au-gratin and pizza(sometimes!) as well as apple pie, pumpkin pie and blueberry pie. Ooo, and I'm good at banana bread, pumpkin bread and zucchini bread. Peanut butter cookies and oatmeal cookies too! The main reason is I use this site and I use the highest rated recipes so I certainly cannot take all the credit for when it comes out good! hehe
My cooking tragedies
Hmm, there have been many. Certain breads, especially ones that are not in the regular loaf shape, for some reason, they don't always fully cook. Also, the last time I made gingerbread, it came out awful. Hot-Cross Buns too. I'm not sure why. I'll have to try them again sometime.

Fresh Fig Cookies
Good, tasty recipe. I used dried figs ( I don't think it's possible to get fresh ones where I live!) and since they were dried, I had to add a little liquid to get the right consistency to form cookie balls. I like cookies shaped like balls and then watching them flatten out in the pan while they're baking. Though these didn't flatten out so much, perhaps because I used margarine instead of shortening(that's all I had on hand) and I didn't use a whole lot of that. Also, I halved the sugar and used brown instead of white, like I always do. I didn't find these cookies to be bland at all, like what other users said. They were good! :) Thanks.
