About this Cook
I am a newlywed, still learning how to cook meals that my husband and I both enjoy. My husband helps out a lot with the cooking, and whenever it comes to steak or any other grilling its his specialty! We don't have any kids yet, but I'm hoping that by the time we do, most of our meals are home made. I am also really into health & fitness. I love working out - so I'm always trying healthy recipes, though I do think everything else is great in moderation!
My favorite things to cook
Right now I am really into soups, as they are a quick & tasty way to get some servings of vegetables. I am constantly trying out recipes from Janet & Greta Podleski - their most recent cookbook "Eat, Shrink and Be Merry" is what I'm currently working on. I have yet to be disappointed with any of their recipes. Right now I am hoping to improve on the presentation of my food, and I would like to take a course on knife skills.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I have scottish background and the day I learn to master "tablet", I will be a proud cook!
My cooking triumphs
I impressed myself when I made my first Thanksgiving Turkey Dinner. On top of that, I think I make some great ribs (got the recipe from this site).
My cooking tragedies
Most of my tragedies come from not properly timing something, or not having the right tools in the kitchen. I can't think of one in particular, but trust me, there have been lots!

PHILADELPHIA Smarter Fettuccine Alfredo
This is a wonderful and simple recipe - it works out to be pretty inexpensive, too, since it doesn't call for very much parmesan or cream cheese. This sauce has lots of flavour and it would be easy to add in vegetables and other spices, though I loved it made as directed in the recipe.

Cream Cheese Jalapeno Hamburgers
This tastes amazing! The only thing I found was using mustard, ketchup, relish etc. with these kind of took away from the cream cheese flavour. I would maybe just use a bit of mayo and veggies (lettuce, tomato, onion) and try to stay away from any over powering condiments/sauces.

Banana-Dulce de Leche Pie (Banana-Caramel Pie)
This was way too sweet for me, but my husband loved it - so I'll have to say this is a winner. I'd never had Dulce De Leche before, so I didn't know what to expect. He, on the other hand, loves it and that's why he loved this pie. I boiled the can for 3 hours fully submerged and had no issues with it.
