About this Cook
I'm 30ish years old and married to the love of my life! My husband, a fantastic cook himself, and I live with our 3 awesome pups. (a yellow Lab, a Rot/German Shepard mix and a Great Dane). We're both from very small towns in the foothills of North Carolina and although I've lived all over the country, I've found that nothing beats down south cooking. I've always loved to cook and enjoy eating just as much. We love things spicy! I'm always adding hot peppers, red pepper flakes or Texas Pete to everything. I'm addicted to the Food Network and I love trying new recipes. Both my mother and grandmother are amazing cooks and I grew up watching and helping them. That's where my love of cooking rooted. I'd be proud just to become half the cooks they are!
My favorite things to cook
I'll try any recipe once. I'm a southern girl so a lot of the things I cook have a southern style. However, after living in San Diego for a while, I also enjoy cooking Mexican dishes. I crave pasta dishes often so I'm always looking for new recipes to cure those cravings.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Sausage balls and Hashbrown Casserole every Christmas. Party biscuits and stuffed mushrooms every holiday. Pancakes on Saturday mornings. Steamed oysters on Monday night!
My cooking triumphs
Baked Spaghetti! My husband swears I make the best and my best friend loves the way I cook green beans. I consider any meal I make that leaves my husband wanting seconds or leads him to ask for it a second time, a triumph.
My cooking tragedies
there have been several but I choose not to talk about those ;-)

Easy Cold Pasta Salad
we had a really bad storm last night and lost power right as I was preparing dinner. The only thing that was done was the angel hair pasta. So I went to the garden and got some cucumbers and tomatoes, fresh basil and thyme and a banana pepper. Mixed up this pasta salad recipe and it was delicious! Thank you!

Baked Omelet Squares
This was fantastic. I used bacon and ham, added a bit more jalapenos and ommited the olives. I made two of these and kept one in the fridge for breakfast the next morning. It reheated nicely and everyone loved it! thank you :)

Linguine Pasta with Shrimp and Tomatoes
This was such a terrific tasting recipe. I wanted to make it a bit heartier so I added red and green peppers and some mushrooms. I cooked the veggies and shrimp separately and added some red pepper flakes then just added it to the tomatoes when they thickened. The tomatoes, wine and butter made such a tasty sauce. A keeper recipe! Thank you!
