About this Cook
I'm a General Manager for a clothing retailer. I have two grown boys who are away from home but come to eat when ever possible, usually with friends.I love to cook when I'm off work and enjoy having people over for dinner and holidays. My husband and I love to cook together, we share in the prep work and clean up. When the boys are there they do the same, it's a great thing to share with people you love.
My favorite things to cook
Southern breakfasts, pasta, french food, and anything from the southwest. We lived in southern California for years and had wonderful experiences with Mexican cuisine.
My favorite family cooking traditions
At Thanksgiving we go around the table and each person has to say what they are thankful for and then light a candle. It is a great time to tell people how much you care about them and say the things we forget to say all year. People say they hate to come here for fear of this tradition, but they end up enjoying it and sharing a few tears with us. Then it's on to the wonderful Thanksgiving dinner with good food and wine!! There is always a good hour of conversation at the table when dinner it over.
My cooking triumphs
Making a four course dinner look like a snap. Having huge dinner parties without breaking a sweat. Sharing great food and wine with family and friends.
My cooking tragedies
When I was in college I made a pasta sauce in a crock pot for about ten people and I didn't precook the hamburger. When I came home that night and opened the lid to see white pieces of meat floating around I nearly died. We ordered pizza to go along with my salad and appetizers.

Roasted Vegetables
I made this last night for a preview for Thanksgiving. It was wonderful. I did exactly what the recipe calls for except I didn't have the fresh thyme or rosemary, so I used dried and just condensed the amount appropriately (listed on the side of the spice container). It was great! I think I will use this in place of mashed potatoes and sweet potatoes for Thanksgiving to lighten up the meal and make more room for fresh vegetables. This is a wonderful healthy alternative to all of the fat.

Zippy Summer Shrimp
This was wonderful. I followed the recipe completely and it was great. This would be a wonderful appetizer as well! I did peal the shrimp for the main course, but I think for an appetizer I will keep the shells on and add a little more garlic and red pepper flakes for a zippier taste. It would be great served with a rustic french bread or a side of cheese garlic bread.

Parmesan Crescent Rolls
I am the one who submitted this recipe. I just wanted to say how incredibly easy this recipe is and it is foolproof. I have been making these for over twenty five years and they are always a big hit. They are relatively small made the way the recipe is written. If you would like you can make them larger just by dividing the dough circles by four or six. They are always well received and they freeze very easily. Both after you bake them or before. For before, just place them on a cookie sheet in the freezer. When frozen keep them in a plastic bag in the freezer and thaw them when ready to bake. Enjoy!!
