Special Cereal Bars I

Reviewed: Jul. 9, 2009
Im rating it four because of all the sugar! wow! I only used 1/2 cup white sugar and 1/2cup corn syrup and maybe 3Tbs of honey. That compbined with the peanut butter and chocolate gives it pleanty of stick, no need for all the rest of the sugar. Great way to use up odds and ends cereal though! I used up some Honey Bunches and Fiber One's version of Honey Bunches. Also couldn't find peanut butter chips so I took another reviewers advice and used butter-scotch chips. Great for a grab and go breakfast!

Chocolate Mint Cookies I

Reviewed: Jun. 28, 2009
These are very good but the reason I rated 4 instead of 5 is it's the topping that makes the cookie. Without the melted candy the cookie is just ok.

Peanut Butter Cup Cookies

Not that this needs another rave review but I LOVE these! I ate way too many and way too fast so probably won't be making them very often because I had hardly any self control!

Hasselback Potatoes

these were good but not spectacular I would say. It was helped out with some sour cream so maybe it just needs more toppings, but then might as well just do a traditional baked potato

Linzer Tarts

these are good but, man! a lot of work! This was the first time ever making these and they turned out great which is a big plus for me for such an intensive cookie. They are definitely a once a year cookie, but everyone I gave them to for Christmas loved them.

Morning Glory Muffins I

Reviewed: Jun. 11, 2009
these were very good and nice to have as a grab and go breakfast. I didn't have any apple butter so i used apple sauce (not much of a difference) and left out the raisins (i hate raisins). My only complaint was that they get mushy after about two days even being wrapped up and stored in an airtight container. I ended up having to throw out my last three.

Authentic Louisiana Red Beans and Rice

Reviewed: Jun. 11, 2009
This was good for a nice change of pace, I was craving something like this. I must have not put enough water in or just took the 'simmer for 2 1/2 hours' to heart and didn't really look at it, but in just under two hours I burned the bottom layer of beans and all the water was gone. So as an advisory I would check on it after an hour and every half hour after that just in case. Also I just threw approximate amounts of the spices in and in my case it could have used a little more kick. I absolutely agree with one reviewer that it needs salt. Over all a good recipe and I will probably make it again.

Very good, instead of yogurt I used french vanilla ice cream and had it as a refreshing dessert. Wonderful!

Pepperoni Bread

Reviewed: Jun. 11, 2009
This was good, like others I used the Pillsbury french bread and turkey peperoni, and served it with some warmed marinara to dip it in. I enjoyed it and my husband LOVED it. I will definitely make it again but with all those calories just as a treat. :)

Tangy Cucumber and Avocado Salad

Reviewed: Jun. 9, 2009
This recipe is the reason I love this site... well a good example of why. I would never have thought to put together this combination, in fact to me it sounded a little odd, but I LOVE this! I may have put a little too much citrus in it, but other than that this was a great salad! A little like guacamole but more alive if that makes any sense, I will be making this salad many more times!

Buttery Cranberry Pie

Reviewed: Jan. 10, 2009
Very good but don't make the mistake I made. Usually I will cut the sugar in any pie recipe because I like my pies tart, so I cut from 1 1/2 cups (seemed like a lot to me) to 1 cup of sugar. It was almost too tart for me! Next time I will use the recommended amount!

Cornish Game Hens with Garlic and Rosemary

I did this on a full scale chicken and it turned out wonderful! Smelled so good in the oven too! Even my vegetarian friend asked what smelled so good! I also cut small slits into the breast of the chicken and throughout and added little slices of garlic in the slits, very delicious!

Red Garlic Mashed Potatoes

These were FANTASTIC! I used half the butter, and used fat free half and half. These were the only thing that i didn't have leftovers from on our Christmas table. I was very disappointed! Guess I'll just have to make more!

Awesome Sausage, Apple and Cranberry Stuffing

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2008
I messed up on this recipe and didn't leave myself the amount of time and extra broth necessary to make it properly out of the bird, mine ended up a little dry. But as it was, the stuffing was soo good that my husband and brother were practically doing rock-paper-scissors to see who got to keep/ or take home the leftovers! so even in my screw up it gets a full five stars! GREAT FLAVOR!
