I am a mother of 3, but I actually claim 5 extra kids. I have my fiance's 3 kids. We also have friends around all the time, so cooking is a necessity. Tim and I both are pretty good cooks, but I bake way better than he does! (Don't tell him I said that!)
My favorite things to cook
I love to make cakes and cookies, but my favorite things are the recipes my grandma still makes. I am part Hungarian, so I like to make things that people have never heard or either. It sounds weird, but tastes so yummy! I also discovered that I have a special talent for cheesecakes. My family raves about them and that makes me very proud!
My favorite family cooking traditions
My grandma always made palascinta. It's like crepes, with a hungarian touch. My mother made it when I was younger, now I do it. It's a tradition from my father's side of the family, but I'm happy my mother carried it on, because my grandmother died when I was only 4 years old.
My cooking triumphs
My biggest cooking triumph was when I finally was able to make chocolate chip coolies without them turning into doggie biscuits. I didn't realize that all I had to do was to put the dough in the fridge to firm it up. Instead, I would just keep adding flour. Duh!! My other triumph is cheesecake. I never thought I would be able to do it, but I did and they turn out beautifully.
My cooking tragedies
Chocolate chip cookies. The dog loved 'em.
