34, home-maker. both of my grandmothers were always in the kitchen, i loved helping them from as early as i can remember. I have taken Wilton cake decorating classes. I love to cook and make up my own recipes, and since i was basically raised in the kitchen i pretty much know what ingredients will please just about everyone. I also have a large veggie garden and i like to can/freeze.
My favorite things to cook
dolmas, taboulleh, hummus, halupkis, steak diane, cous cous, spinach, apple pie, cucumber salad, potato salad, salsa, shish kebobs.
My favorite family cooking traditions
like i said my grandmothers loved to cook and every sunday we would go to my dad's mom for dinner(hungarian), and on saturday we would eat with my mom's family(german), all my family members from that side would come for dinner, i always loved going early to help out, also i love having family get togethers where everyone brings a dish.
My cooking triumphs
friends and family offer to pay me to make cakes, and foods for partys, and family events.
My cooking tragedies
one easter i made a large dish of my potato salad which everybody who has had it loves, and my daughter dropped the bowl just outside the house, i don't know if i was more upset about the potato salad or my best pyrex bowl! and once i baked and decorated a sheet cake with a detailed caricature on it for a 50th birthday party, and just when i went to put it in the fridge, i had an epileptic seizure, and dropped it, i stayed up all night making a new one.
