I am currently living in Henderson, NV with my best friend/husband :)!! We have a very diverse family consisting of THREE long haired chihuahuas (Minni, Taco, and Shaleigh Ann-AKA: Monkey), Two turtles (Norbert and Jeffery Dahmer), one Cockitiel ( Rico), one African Gray Parrot (Matilda), four parrot fish (Sunkist, Crush, Tang, and Sunny D). I have two adult children-my daughter, Ashley is going to school at UNI, and my son, Lucas, just finished college in Japan and is currently looking for a position in foreign relations. I do Ebay full time and LOVE it- (between you and me...I do it as an excuse to hit as many garage sales and auctions as i want..."but Honey, I need to pick up some stuff to sell online..."! I LOVE to cook and seem to have had a flair for it since I can re
My favorite things to cook
I truly enjoy every minute I'm in the kitchen. I guess I especially love to bake and get creative with the ingredients I have on hand. It's a fun challenge for me to see what I can create throughout the week, spending as little money as possible. I buy what's on sale-then go to town!
My favorite family cooking traditions
I would have to say making Swedish krumkake at Christmas, also my grandmother used to bake a Swedish braid for everyone on their birthday. I have her recipe, but I haven't been able to bring myself to make it. Noone could do it like she could!!
My cooking triumphs
I would have to say, the creations I was most proud of, were the treats I would make my kids to take to school. I always took the time to make them special and unique. The smiles on their faces and the excitement of their classmates made my day!
My cooking tragedies
This is a good one. When I was about 7 years old, I decided to bake my mom a pan of brownies. She was out in the garden that day working so hard, If I remember right, she had also mowed and was so exhausted. I found her brownie recipe, mixed everything up by hand, and dumped it in a teeny tiny pan (must have been 5 x 12 at the biggest). I had the oven cranked all the way up to as high as it would go (I wanted it to cook fast so I could suprise her when she came it the house). Of course, I filled the pan to the brim with the lumpy batter and preceded to stick it in the oven. Well, I busied myself helping clean the house while it "baked". I will remember as long as I live, looking into the oven and seeing that concoction bubbling over the edge of the pan like molten lava-spilling all over the bottom of mom's clean oven. Smoke filled the house and I hid. I can't remember how I was punished, but I sure didn't make mom's day any easier!!
