I made this pie for Thanksgiving. It was great! I did make a few changes, but I just added to the recipe, I didn't change the ingredients. I cut up the apples and sprinkled some nutmeg and cinnamon on the apples and mixed. Then the syrup, I mixed that in the apples as well and poured it into the pie shell. I then made a crumb topping with 1/3cup sugar, 3/4 cup flour and a few TB of butter. I mixed that up and crumbled it on top. It was delish! The only thing I noticed is that the syrup that I made didn't really turn out like a syrup that you could pour, it kind of all stuck together so that's one of the reasons I mixed it.
