About this Cook
My favorite things to cook
I love cooking classics. I get a lot of satisfaction from cooking stuff that would have appeared on a table 200 - 1000 years ago. Doing a midevil peasant dinner every once in a while reminds you how good we've got it and it's pretty healthy too.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Every recipe handed to me by relatives has been very heavily influenced by industrialization, so I prefer to forget what I've learned from them.
My cooking triumphs
Making split-pea soup so good even a kid would ask for a second bowl.
My cooking tragedies
Once tried to make yorkshire puddings in a muffin tin. They overflowed the cups still in liquid form and drained down to the bottom of the oven forcing me to open the windows when it was freezing outside and created one hell of a mess of the oven.

Quick Yeast Rolls
Only a master poet could describe in words how good these taste. Right out of the oven they have a texture comparable to cotton-candy, but not too sweet in flavor. Instead of using butter I painted them with ghee right out of the oven. That gave them a nice flavor. Considdering all the sugar and saturated fat this is a "once in a while" food, but totally worth it.

Jamaican Jerk Chicken
I went with one pepper and it was still a bit hot for me. Other than that it was great. My guests like it a bit spicier than me and they all asked for the recipe.

Sweet, Sticky and Spicy Chicken
It's a bit hot for me. I had to add about a tablespoon of water to it so that it did not become too thick and start burning. It was as sticky as can be and taste great.
