About this Cook
I've always been interested in cooking. I started cooking at about age 5, I remember babysitters coming over and being worried that I was baking, without my Mom being around. My Mom was a single working mother and didn't seem to have the time or interest in cooking, therefore we ate out A LOT, so it was up to me learn, if I wanted to eat at home.
My favorite things to cook
I love making pies, they are definately my specialty. They are always requested for parties and family get togethers.
My favorite family cooking traditions
We make traditional Swedish and Norwegian food/smorgasbord during the holidays.
My cooking triumphs
Can't think of anything special.
My cooking tragedies
Oh, I've had a ton. My first time cooking as a kid, I didn't read the recipe, I just mixed all of the ingredients together and threw it in a pan to bake...yuck that turned out terrible for the obvious reasons.

Burgundy Pork Tenderloin
This recipe was pretty darn good, especially for how easy it was to make. Per another reviewer's suggestion, I omitted the onion and celery. Next time I think I might try some beef broth in with the wine while cooking.

Beer Bread I
The BOMB! I don't keep self-rising flour in the house, so I followed another reviewers advice (1 c flour, 1 tsp baking powder, 1/2 tsp salt) and it turned out perfect. I also added 1/3 c sugar and a handful of cheese to the mixture and baked it into 2 mini loaves, per another reviewers advice. For a little kick, I added chopped jalapenos to one of the loaves for the men in the house. Everyone raved about the bread. I'm sure it would taste great even without the cheese and jalapenos.

Apple Pie by Grandma Ople
Fabulous recipe!!! I love making pies and the filling for this one was delicious. The only thing I will do differently next time is to add a little more flour to the glaze, it was a bit too runny...didn't impact the taste at all though.
