About this Cook
I am a preschool teacher. I am married and have to almost grown kids.DS is 18 and a freshman in college and DD is married and is a junior in college. My son in law is in the ARMY and is in Iraq.
My favorite things to cook
Potato Soup,Chicken Tortilla Soup, Black Bean Salsa, Ham Roll-ups, enchiladas,Home made breads, and quick breads like banana etc. I do a little catering too with a friend that is in the business. When catering my favorites are ham roll ups, spinach dip, salsas and original sandwiches.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My grandmother was an excellent. She always had company stopping by at dinner time to see what she had made. Her recipes were featured weely in local and statewide newspapers. She also had recipes published by Southern Living. Her cooking was very southern and her cakes were to die for. I am more of the contemporary cook but still love to fry chicken and make cream gravy, corn bread and more southern style foods. I will never forget how good her kitchen always smelled and miss to this day eating Sunday lunch at her house.
My cooking triumphs
I have won 2 soup cook offs. I usually win for my Chicken Tortilla Soup but everyone love my Potato Soup as well.
My cooking tragedies
I don't make home made biscuits, and that is all I will admit too. My dh however makes wonderful biscuits and gravy.

Easy Sausage Cheese Balls
Very good version of a great snack. Like other said I backed off the Biscuit mix to 3.5 cups. Then I used 1/2 hot and 1/2 mild sausage. I used Tennessee Pride. The cheese was sharp, 4cups. The trick is to MIX BY HAND until everything is mixed. I added a drop or two of water on my hands to keep it from sticking. Also I baked them a little longer as I make rather large balls and I wanted them done. Not greasy at all. I wonder if a food processor would have done the mixing better or at least quicker??

Banana Sour Cream Bread
This is a great recipe for banana bread.Very easy!! I adjusted in two ways. First I halved the sugar into half white cane sugar and the other half into brown sugar. Then I added nutmeg along with the cinnamon. I wished I would of had nuts or raisins to add. Adding the sugar cinnamon to the bottom is a great idea so I added some more to the top before baking. I used 3 loaf pans and they baked in 1 hour 10 minutes. Taste great!!
