Soft Sugar Cookies IV

These cookies are soft, w/ a cake like texture but a much finer, sturdy crumb. They are JUST like the lofthouse cookies you find in the store. They will stay really soft as long as you do not over bake them. I add a bit of almond flavoring to them and they are to die for!

White Almond Wedding Cake

This is a GREAT cake that originates from Rebecca Sutterby and as short is called the WASC. I recommend it to all. You can easily change out the white cake mix and almond flavoring and flavor it to your liking (Lemon cake mix w/ vanilla flavoring.. etc.). I also use flavored coffee creamer (liquid version) opposed to water and sometimes yogurt instead of sour cream (in coordinating flavor). I also add 1/2 a packet of pudding mix to make it super moist(instant, dry). Also it does NOT matter if the cake mix already 'has pudding' in it. That is simply a marketing technique. I prefer BC white cake mix, but yellow I prefer DH. Make sure you sift both. The resulting cake will be pretty dense (and SUPER MOIST) in comparison to a typical box cake(it's supposed to be a hybrid scratch cake)and sturdy enough to hold fondant. If you are carving the cake, omit the pudding packet.

Pumpkin Spice Cake with Cinnamon Cream Cheese Frosting

As is, I give the cake recipe a 3. At my first attempt, I baked the cake in a 6inch round to see how it would turn out. It was a bit dry and needed a lot more spice to make it more of a pumpkin flavor. After tasting that, I decided it would make better cookies, which it did! They were delicious :) On my second attempt, I added a total of 2 tablespoons pumpkin pie spice ( 6 teaspoons), use a mix w/o pudding in the mix and added pumpkin pie flavored pudding mix (found at walmart), 4 eggs (helped solve the dryness), 1/3 cup oil, and 1/4 cup milk. The end result was fantastic. I did not use the icing because the proportions were off, and instead used my own recipe. I hope this helps!

Mini Pumpkin Butterscotch Muffins

Wonderful taste combo! I think they would be better with mini-butterscotch chips though if you are cooking them in the mini-muffin tin. I, like usual, doubled the spices and added pumpkin pie spice. Delicious!

Curried Cauliflower

After craving this ALL day at work, I went home and made it right away. I thought the base was OK; it needed a ton more spices to give it a distinct flavor. I tripled the amount of curry, added cumin, turmeric, and a touch of garlic. Finally I was satisfied and put it in the oven. In the end it tasted great, but I definitely think it needs more flavor when working with the original recipe.

Oatmeal Peanut Butter Cookies III

These are amazingly delicious! I gave one to my dad and without telling him they are supposed to be like the girl scout cookies he quickly exclaimed "these are to die for.. they are better than those girl scout cookies (his favorite..)" The cream in the center is what makes these cookies amazing.

Pumpkin Turkey Chili

Great base but if you have never made chili, but have eaten a lot of chili, this will disappoint you. It definitely needs more spices, as well as beans or corn(IMO). I probably tripled the spices, added cumin, hot sauce, a tad bit of curry, hot peppers, and 1/2 a can of tomato paste to give it some more flavor/zing. So for you chili-lovers, I would use the pumpkin as an inspiration but use your imagination or tried and true chili recipe as a base.

Pumpkin Spiced and Iced Cookies

Why have more people not tried these? They are amazing, absolutely delicious! I have them coming out of the oven now and they are gone before the next batch comes out! A few suggestions: If you do not want them so cake-like, substitute all or some of the white sugar for brown, and use melted butter. I would either double or triple the spices as well. I'm not a huge spice fan but I tripled it and they came out FANTASTIC! Also, I think the cookies need an entire teaspoon of salt, opposed to 1/2 a teaspoon. Get cooking! You will not regret making this cookie! P.S. Here are a few things I played around w/ with these cookies.. In some batches, I rolled the cookies in a sugar/cinnamon/nutmeg mix (it's kind of hard since they are soo soft, but worth it!), and I used canned cream cheese icing that I melted on some of them, and also sprinkled cinnamon/nutmeg ontop of the iced cookies! DELICIOUS!!

Best Big, Fat, Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookie

This is the only cookies recipe I have ever made where I didn't have to change a thing!! I usually have to tweak the flour or brown sugar, but these are PERFECT!! I absolutely love them... and they are soo nice and thick. This recipe is a keeper!!

Lemon Garlic Tilapia

I'm giving this five stars because of it's potential to be amazing. I agree with the other reviewers, you need to atleast double the seasonings... i.e., the garlic, lemon, butter, and parsley. I added garlic salt, seasoning salt, and a seafood based old bay and it was FANTASTIC! I was afraid it would be too salty with all the additions, but it was just perfect! My boyfriend who usually doesn't like fish, finished his plate and said "this is a KEEPER!!" Everyone should try this, add your own twist or try it like it is! p.s. I wouldn't cook the fish over 15 minutes. Once they start to flake, they're done!

Pizza Pinwheels

This recipe is great! I recommend adding the pizza sauce (or spaghetti sauce) to the crescent rolls, then piling on the cheese, and lastly topping it with chopped up pepperoni. Quickly roll them length wise and pop them into the freezer for a few minutes. Afterward, take them out, cut them up, and pop them in the oven. I promise, everyone will be asking for more! p.s. I added garlic salt, sausage, and some oregano.. DELICIOUS!
