About this Cook
I have learned to cook from scratch out of necessity due to my kids' food allergies and our family's wish to avoid unhealthy preservatives and gmo's. I lovet to take recipes and "tweak" them to make them my own. All recipes has been my favorite place for recipes for a long while now, so I figured it was time to actually join officially.
My favorite things to cook
desserts....without refined sugar or dairy...and still very yummy!
My favorite family cooking traditions
cooking, baking and canning with my kids....a daily event, but "tradition" none the less.
My cooking triumphs
Tofu peanut butter pie...that even the most ardent "anti-tofu" person would love.
My cooking tragedies
Oh...they still laugh over my "Irish Soda Brick", 12 years later!

Vegan Split Pea Soup II
Not a bad recipe. Tasted great and everyone liked it. Used green split peas but otherwise followed it exactly. Liked the curry, but it still needed some seasoning. Added pepper, onion powder and garlic powder for more flavor. Will make again with the added seasoning. LOVE the idea that it is a tasty...vegetarian...split pea soup.

Sausage and Egg Casserole
I thought this recipe was alright, but my kids all RAVED about it, so it gets 5 stars. We made it with gimme lean vegetarian sausage and rice milk, due to dietary neccesities. We put it together in the am before school and ate if for dinner. I made a double batch and there were no leftovers. We will definitely make it again.

Slow Cooker Apple-Scented Venison Roast
Made exactly as written. This is the best venison recipe I have ever cooked. The meat literally fell off the bone. Definitely a keeper.
