I live in Palm Beach Gardens with my husband of 3 years and 19 yr. old son. I work full-time and enjoy in my free time, planning and preparing healthy, interesting and tasty meals. I have a culinary arts degree and spent 15 years working in local hotels, restaurants and country clubs.
My favorite things to cook
Anything with exotic and complex flavors such as sweet and spicy curries from India, Thailand and Jamaica. I also love to construct excessively large special occasion layer cakes, slathered with rich, sweet and creamy fillings.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I enjoy preparing meals for family get-togethers. I have seven siblings most of whom are married and have children, so every gathering means a full house! We often have pot-luck style meals which are always an interesting collaboration of ideas!
My cooking triumphs
I prepared the food for my best friend's parents 40 yr. wedding anniversary party for 50 guests. Everyone was happy and impressed with my work. That was a proud moment for me.
My cooking tragedies
I baked a beautiful, over-sized strawberry cheesecake for my son's birthday party. I fussed over the decoration of whipped cream and fresh strawberries, and it looked picture perfect. The only problem was it was way under-baked. When I cut it ( in front of a table of about 20 guests) I discovered to my horror, the wet, runny middle. It was inedible. Luckily, the party was at a restaurant...so we ordered desserts off the menu. Lesson learned.
