I'm the worst blogger ever...!

I gotta blog more! Well, I will tell you what I made for dinner last night:
Steamed green beans with garlic and lemon juice (not from my box)
Mashed potatoes (from the box!)
Grilled polenta topped with grilled portobella mushrooms (nope, not from box). The mushrooms were marinated in Italian dressing for 15 minutes.
I had my doubts about the meal -- I thought it would be boooring -- but it was freakishly delicious!
One thing's for sure, ever since I started this blog, I have used every single thing in my box within the first few days. So then I end up going to the grocery store and laying down a bunch of cash for fresh produce. I'm not saying this is a bad thing, just unanticipated! How could eating more fresh fruit and vegetables be bad?
Speaking of which, yesterday for lunch I went with my coworkers to a previously fantastic Mexican restaurant on the south side of the city. I ordered a vegetarian huarache, which is a flat corn fritter filled with a very thin layer of beans and topped with diced sauteed vegetables. I've never seen them served anywhere else. I know huaraches means "sandals" in Spanish, which sort of makes sense since the flat fritter looks a bit like a sandal. Anyway, when they brought out my food, it had tiny bits of PORK throughout the vegetable mixture. I tried to pick it out, but finally gave up and sent back the dish. I think the cooks made fun of me. Oh well, I tried to be as polite as possible to avoid any unsavory kitchen shenanigans (not that I really suspected any would be perpetrated), and the replacement huarache was delicioso. There is not really any point to this story except maybe to express that I am not one of those self-righteous vegetarians who thinks everyone who eats meat is evil. I just don't eat meat and I don't make an issue about it. So when I order vegetarian, just bring it to me vegetarian, and let's leave it at that, okay? Ha! Ha!
One last thought: Go Huskies!
