About this Cook
I'm a Choral Music Education major at Florida State University, and will be a senior this upcoming year. (Graduation date is scheduled for December 2009.) I love Tallahassee--It's where I accepted Christ, and the people are so sweet. :) I have 2 dogs, a foxhound/beagle mix (Cano), and the dumbest yet most loving black lab pup (Nera). All-Recipes is my favorite recipe website--I haven't been disappointed yet!!
My favorite things to cook
Things that taste good. ;D I grew up in an Italian home, so I know it very well, and Tallahassee has leant a Southern "twang" to my food. :) I like meats and sides to cook the best.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I come from a traditional Catholic/Italian family, and every Christmas Eve, no meat is allowed. My Dad's side of the family cooks anything seafood you can think of--Scallops, salmon, sushi, stuffed squid, and those little fish that you eat whole, bones and all. Can't think of the name, however. And then on Christmas day, at my Grandma's, my Mom's side does traditional Italian--We start out with wedding soup, then move on to TRUE ravioli, sausage and meatballs, bread and salad. The same thing every year since before I was born. And the cassata cake. Precious Lord, the cassata cake. I NEED to learn that recipe. Anyways, adding garlic and basil to every dish is how my Pop taught me, and that's part of our cooking tradition, I guess. :)
My cooking triumphs
I make great banana bread, and pulled pork. And potatoes. I could be a snob and say I make everything taste good... ;D
My cooking tragedies
Bread. Oh gosh, my BREAD!! I've always wanted to make bread from scratch, but no one ever taught me, and the day I made it, I was VERY hungry and impatient, and it wasn't BAD...Just really heavy. I have a bread machine, now. ;D And I accidentally tried a recipe marked 2 stars, simply because I had all the ingredients. Pork chops. My roomates still have nightmares from it. :P

Cranberry Sauce
I was rather worried about trying whole cranberry sauce because I know cranberries are very tart and untasty by themselves, but NEVER AGAIN will I go back to canned cranberry sauce! I doubled the recipe, followed some advice and did half brown, half white sugar and used orange, pineapple and a tbsp. lemon juice and it was PERFECT. My pop added the peel of an orange, and a cinnammon stick overnight and removed right before serving. The flavors were tangy, sweet, subtle, and undeniably harvesty. It wasn't bitter and it was EVEN BETTER with turkey leftovers days later. Cranberries are so cheap and plentiful at this time of year, everyone should at least TRY this recipe. :)

Key Lime Pie VII
Very easy and simple. I added a few drops of neon green food coloring just because I think green pies taste yummier. : ) Thanks for the recipe!

Cheesy Baked Cauliflower
I followed the recipe and found it to be rather blah for me. I ended up adding some fresh ground pepper and salt, but it wasn't the best. It LOOKED fantastic though, so 4 stars for a pretty dish.
