I was reading the newspaper a couple of weeks ago and lo and behold there was an article about Fried Kool Aid. I thought , "Hmmm. What in the world is that?" I read further and discovered that they are serving Fried Kool Aid at fairs in California and they seem to be quite a popular food. I am… MORE

I have always loved cooking and trying different foods. At our family Christmas get-together I am always in charge of the main course. We go to my sons house for a great meal and a lot of fun. One year, I took a Prime Rib, the next year was a standing Rib Roast, last year was a turducken. I… MORE

Last Saturday I went to a Youth for Christ auction. I bid on a fondue pot and got it. I used to have fondue years ago when my first husband was alive and my kids were younger. However, as time passed, I lost my old pot. Now 20 years later, I have a brand new fondue pot and thought I would try… MORE

A love letter to ? My dear love, I think of you the first thing in the morning and the last thing at night. You have been there for me since the day I was born and I grew to love you more as I tested you. You are familiar with my likes and dislikes. I know you so well, and you know me too. I can MORE

And why is this the most dangerous cake recipe in the world ? Because now we are all only 5 minutes away from chocolate cake at any time of the day or night!  Chocolate can sure lend a helping hand in a lot of situations. I need a chocolate fix every now and then! … MORE

A cup of tea, a spot of tea, a pot of tea all suit me to a T. Whenever there was a family emergency or problem, Grandma or Mom would say, "I got the tea kettle on."  What is it about tea that soothes the hurt, warms the body and calms the soul? Is it just the thought of doing… MORE

I have always been interested in the sinking of the Titanic and the night that "great ship" went down. It was April 14, 1912 and no one even had the thought that they were dining for the last time. A few years ago I bought a book called Last Dinner on the Titanic. It lists… MORE

About Me
I work as a news reporter for a small paper. I love food and cooking. My favorite item to read besides the newspaper, are The Enquirer, the Bible, and cookbooks. I have four grown children and nine grandchildren. I am a musician and play keyboard with a couple of bands. This all keeps me very busy.
My favorite things to cook
Any kind of chicken recipe, hamburger, pasta, vegetables, casseroles. Especially like any kind of slow cooker recipes. I have started making Trail Mix and try to come up with different varieties.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I have always liked to cook. If I am upset or simply want to be by myself, I chase everyone out of the kitchen and begin creating. I like trying any new recipe from All Recipes and am a big fan of the Food Network. Faves are Paula Deen, Rachael Ray, Sandra Lee, and Ina Gartner.
My cooking triumphs
I have a simple tasty recipe for noodles. I have to make these for everything. They are a big hit and easy to make. My church, family, and friends ask me to bring these to every event. My crockpot dressing is out of this world, my Whistling Dixie chili and more.
My cooking tragedies
One time I made a cheese/beer soup. It was horrid. My whole house smelled like a bar. Another time I put navy beans in a pressure cooker and they blew up and hit the ceiling. Another time I lost a bracelet while making custard and someone found it as they were eating!
