About this Cook
Life is great!Don't waste it worrying about things or those u cannot change.I want to do everything I haven't & know everything I don't. Nothing is for free so I do it myself....
My favorite things to cook
Grilling, cinnamon buns,fish,crock-pot cooking, odd stuff. I read cookbooks from the library. If I like them, then I buy them.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I love big meals with lots of people.I do a cajun Christmas meal. My seafood gumbo is always a hit. This past year, my husband picked fresh gulf crabs for 3 hours!!! I hope we're blessed w/ a great supply this year. My brother's favorite dump cake was added to the menu this year.Crawfish boils are great times. Bring on the horse-shoes and beer! We eat right out of the peroe!
My cooking triumphs
?????Have to think about that one.
My cooking tragedies
Bread! It taste okay but texture is a problem. It comes out great w/ a hand mixer. I don't do bread machines. Homemade cinnamon rolls from this site is great but no luck w/ anything else. My biscuits are good but not what I want them to be. I'm thinking of visiting our local 'Bread Man' at %AM if he'll teach me.

Easy Broccoli Quiche
I agree w/ the other reviews. This is only a great 'starter' recipe. I used a homemade crust,5 eggs, about 1/2 c. milk, and FROZEN veggies (peppers, mushrooms, & brocolli). I buy & freeze sale items.I microwaved the veggies.A deep dish pie plate has to bake about 50 min.& my filling only filled the dish about 3/4 full.No sogginess for me. This was my husband's breaksfast this morning and he liked it. I will use this basic recipe over and over. thanks!

Banana Crumb Muffins
I like my usual recipe better. These came out a little too moist for my liking. The crumb topping I expected wasn't really a 'crumb'. It was a sweet sugar candy coating. I doubled this recipe & it made 11 jumbo muffins.I also used real butter so maybe that mattered.I also added vanilla, nuts, flaxseed, and wheat germ. The recipe was fantastic in flavor. I might make them again when I don't have milk on hand but extra bananas to get rid of.
