About this Cook
I'm a 35 year old stay-at-home mother of 2 and wife of 1. I love gardening and grow a lot of what we eat. Cooking is definitely my passion and it's pretty rare that we eat the same recipe more than once...unless it's a serious keeper.
My favorite things to cook
Italian...love everything Italian. My favorite single thing is Gnocchi made with fresh homemade ricotta. Wow...nothing better than that.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Making sloughs of cookies during the holidays with my kids. They look forward to it all year long. I also enjoy cooking with my 86 year old grandmother. She's an amazing baker and makes Portuguese Sweet Bread that keeps everyone coming back for more. It took her many years to master, so I have a long road ahead of me, but the end result is worth it.
My cooking triumphs
Bread and Gravy...the 2 things that scared me most in the kitchen. When I made my first edible loaf of bread that wasn't ready for the NHL, it was a great day for me. My husband is a Gravy-lover and always begs me to make it. It took a few flops, but I think I've mastered it now and don't feel quite as intimidated making it anymore.
My cooking tragedies
Wow...too many to list. Thank goodness there's a Taco Bell close by. :o)
