About this Cook
I'm married and i have a 6 y/o daughter and a 3y/o son. I'm a self taught cook who likes to expirement. My dad was in the army so i've been everywhere but i'm a southern girl at heart.
My favorite things to cook
I like making things alot of people buy for convience lik Biscuits, bread, pies, etc. I'm fond of "old fashioned" grub.
My favorite family cooking traditions
In the town i was born, nearly every one of my relatives lived in the area so sunday dinners were like weekly family reunions. After we moved from that town my parents didn't cook much except for on thanksgiving where my dad would cook the most delicious turkey on the planet and my mom, my sis, and me would bake pie after pie, after pie. These days, all the family comes to my house for the holidays and i cook and cook and cook. I love it.
My cooking triumphs
None really come to mind, but i love when i cook for a crowd and everyone says i'm the best cook around for my age.
My cooking tragedies
Luckily there hasn't been too many. I get in trouble when i just grab stuff out of the pantry and throw it in a pot. It always turns out bad. I have to have either a recipe or a method.

Brown Sugar Spiced Shortbread
I have never made shortbread or ever had from scratch shortbread so i have nothing to compare it to, but these were pretty good. i added an extra TBS br. sugar and added a bit more cinnamon. I wish i had cut mine out with a cutter because the wedges are so dull and they broke easily. Also i had trouble knowing when they were done.

Dijon Garlic Salmon
Very good! my hubbys favorite slamon recipe yet. I just don't understand why the recipe calls for 1/3 cup of mustard when "lightly coating" the salmon on requires a few tablespoons.

Peanut Butter Brownies I
i substituted half the flour for cocoa, but i must have missed the part where more sugar was added. They need much more sugar if you add cocoa.
