About this Cook
I am married to my hero. He works in a power plant so he definitely works hard, long, and dirty hours. He has made it possible for me to stay at home and pretty much do as I please. (As long as it doesn't involve overdrawn bank letters!) I have 2 sons who are to the wrestling stage in their lives. One of them loves to spend time trying out survival techniques and the other loves to cook with me. They both love to read. And I am proud to say we are all saved by God's sweet mercy. We moved to this house in October of 2007. I am loving it! We moved from a 1000 sq. foot into a 3200. I finally have room to do all of my canning, baking, and crafts without the boys having to be in the middle of it!
My favorite things to cook
I am on a quest to lose weight. I am looking for the best recipes I can find. My hubby doesn't want to know... just let it happen! I also love to can, make jam and jelly, and use wild game. I guess it is obvious that my survival son got it honest.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Cooking with my mom! She makes the pie crust and I fill it and put on the meringue then she watches for it to brown. We love to stand around the kitchen and drink coffee while we are cooking.
My cooking triumphs
My banana pudding. No one can turn it down after a taste!
My cooking tragedies
The first time I cooked for my husband. It was a pancake as big as a skillet and about 2 inches thick. Needless to say it was done on the outside but not in the middle. Now after 14 years he eats anything I cook - eagerly! I have seriously improved!!

Golden Wedding Punch
I made this punch for a middle school dance. The kids loved it! We needed a light colored punch so the table cloths wouldn't be ruined by red stains(pre-teens with cups). I used gingerale instead of the sugar and water and it gave it a "sparkley" flavor. I did this because where I was didn't have a kitchen and it was easier to carry. I just mixed the cold ingredients as I ran out (I used two bowls). I allowed the juices to thaw in the fridge and put everything else in to chill.
