New York System Hot Wiener Sauce I

Reviewed: Nov. 12, 2009
this is the closet I've ever had to a real hot weiner. It's not a chili or a coney dog!! Delicious from an Olneyville lover. Must have onion and celery salt and mustard. Thanks for the recipe.

Shrimp Scampi ala Norelllaura

Reviewed: Oct. 18, 2009
This was delicious! My four year old loves the sauce but not seafood, so I threw some edamame in his pasta instead. So simple and wonderful. I did not use the flour step beause I used precooked shrimp and didn't want them chewy.

Tapenade

YUM! I made this for a Saturday afternoon snack. It took no time. I used regular black olives (didn't have kalamatas and they can be expensive) and omitted the anchovies. It was still a little salty. I would probably cut down on the capers next time. That said, my three year old couldn't get enough. I served it with blue corn tortillas and I loved it.

Swiss Chard with Pinto Beans and Goat Cheese

Reviewed: Feb. 24, 2009
This was really tasty. My husband had 3 helpings. I have been purchasing new vegetables to branch out from the usual and I'm glad I found this. I too used black beans. I did not put it in the oven. After I cooked it on the stove, I topped it with goat cheese and covered it and the cheese melted down in less than ten minutes. I think most any cheese would work.

Fried Okra

I used Jiffy (didn't have corn meal). Myself and my husband really liked it but with Jiffy it is a little sweet.

Bacon-Cheddar Deviled Eggs

Reviewed: Nov. 13, 2008
These were all the rave at a recent party! In reading another review from Kris, she had trouble with the pastry bag. I use a quart size Ziploc or equivalent to pipe my eggs. (In my experience the sandwich size are too weak). That way you can make the hole big enough for the bacon bits.

Ultimate Shrimp Scampi

I like a "wetter" dish but did not want all that butter. A good trick is to reserve some of the pasta water, after cooking, and add that in to final dish. This works great for a lot of pasta recipes. If the finished product is a little dry the pasta water works wonders wihtout adding more butter, cream, etc.

Prosciutto Parmesan Pasta

Reviewed: Jun. 9, 2008
This was so easy and delicious. I added sauteed garlic and used milk instead of cream and it was great!! Even my two year old said it was delicious. I cut the cheese to one cup and it still had plenty of flavor. It took no time at all to whip up.

Asiago Sun-Dried Tomato Pasta

Reviewed: May 19, 2008
This was delicious and my kids, who hate sun dried tomatoes, had seconds and thirds. I used half and half and it still came out great. And I had no asiago so i used fresh grated pecorino. Thanks for a keeper!
